Fort Myers Beach locals are happy to see a positive outlook on the horizon as their iconic Times Square clock, which was destroyed along with much of town square by Hurricane Ian almost one year ago, is making its return.
"The Times Square clock was nearly destroyed by Hurricane Ian in 2022, and for many, the missing iconic symbol made Fort Myers Beach feel incomplete." says WINX news reporter Asha Patel.
"A Fort Myers Beach developer looked through piles of debris and trash for the clock after Ian hit but had no luck. Instead of giving up, a local builder and his investors commissioned a new pedestal clock."
"The return of the Times Square clock marks a step in a positive direction, as Fort Myers Beach continues its lengthy repairs after the devastation of Ian."
Asha Patel also says that the ceremony and unveil of the clocks completion will be made on September 28th, 2023, exactly one year since Hurricane Ian hit Southwest Florida.
